I’ll be the first one to admit that flossing is probably one of my least favorite activities. The fact my teeth spacing is rather on the minimal side most likely contributes to the less than enjoyable experience. But here are a few good reasons to do it: According to a money magazine article, every dollar you spend on preventative care can save you from four to fifty bucks in restorative care. Another article discussing similar benefits can be read here. I’ve also read recently that taking good care of your teeth can potentially add several years to your life expectancy. I can’t seem to recall the exact magazine and article but this article makes a similar point.
None of these though make the flossing experience any better. Well, here is something you might want to consider: not all floss are created equal. The other month I got fed up with the cheap floss that one gets after every dentist visit and decided to splurge a little bit more money on a higher-quality floss. My choice: the Reach cleanpaste, which is a Johnson & Johnson product. If you feel inclined to read more about this product, take a look here. Sure it is a little more expensive than regular floss, but difference when it comes to flossing is like night and day. It rarely tears, it gets easily in-between my teeth, and my teeth actually do feel cleaner when I’m done with it. To sum it up: I’ve went from hating to floss to actual enjoying it. Who says money can’t buy you happiness?
