Since I'm sitting at home, a few hours after my knee surgery, I suppose it is as a time as any to write a quick update. In case you are interested, I had a surgery on my right knee. The culprit was my right meniscus. It seems that while playing tennis a few months ago I tore my outer right meniscus, and the problem is that a meniscus unlike muscles or ligaments does not heal itself over time. Thus, if I ever wanted to experience pain free motion in my right knee I really had no choice but to do a surgery to clean up the tear. Given the fact that I was under full anesthesia, I can't really give many details on the actual surgery, other than it took a little longer than an hour and required two small incisions. Oh yeah, they did have to shave the area around the knee, which makes my right leg look quite freaky - I don't think I will be wearing shorts for a while! The recovery period should not be too long if all goes well. I should be getting the stitches removed in about a week, and the knee should be fully functional in a few weeks - just in time for Miami.
Other than that, I have been super busy. My buddy and I are closing on our first investment property next week. So now efforts are in full swing to get it rented as soon as possible. I just finished my tax return for this year, and even though it was very time consuming and frustrating, it seems I should be getting some money back from the government this year - probably just enough to cover the surgery since my health-insurance is too cheap to cover it all. I did get the laptop, about which I talked in the previous post, so I was happy about that. However, it had a design defect in that the battery would not fit very well in its bay causing the laptop to wobble every time I tried to type anything. Since that is absolutely unacceptable, I'm now waiting for a replacement which should arrive in a few days. While on computers, I've also decided to upgrade my desktop at home so that I could be more *cough* productive *cough*. I still like to put my own systems together, which always takes a bit longer than expected but results in superior value through overclocking.
